Award-winning ESPA has embraced the mindfulness movement by launching new mindfulness therapies at ESPA Life at Corinthia. They feature in a suite of six unique mindfulness therapies, all under one roof.
The six mindfulness therapies comprise: ESPA Mindful Massage, ESPA Mindful Facial, Mindful Breathing & Meditation, Mindful Sleep, and two Mindful Fitness sessions.
This series of treatments is putting mindfulness at the core of wellness because our mental state is equally as important our physical health and wellbeing.
I’m a huge fan of mindfulness, which is the mental state achieved by focusing your awareness on the present moment. Mindfulness can bring about long-term benefits and positively affects levels of happiness and well-being. Scientific studies have shown that mindfulness not only prevents depression but that it also directly impacts the brain patterns underlying day-to-day anxiety, stress, depression and irritability.
ESPA Life wants to ensure their guests get the maximum restorative effects mentally and emotionally, as well as physically, from their time at the spa.

1. ESPA Mindful Massage
This holistic, deeply relaxing and clarifying experience works on the concept of mindfulness, focusing on both mind and body to help you reduce stress and ‘be more in the present’. The therapist skilfully guides you through breathing and visualisation techniques to help relax the mind and release physical or emotional anxieties. The metamorphic zones on the feet are then massaged to help rebalance and ground, before a soothing, deeply therapeutic massage is continued up through the body to promote positivity to the mind, finishing with a re-energising scalp massage using warm rose quartz crystals.

2. ESPA Mindful Facial
Naturally advanced formulas and warmed herbal poultices unite with therapeutic hands to deeply cleanse, hydrate and rejuvenate skin while also calming a busy mind. Feel negative energies fade as your therapist expertly guides you through breathing and visualisation techniques, before long, lifting strokes using warmed poultices sculpt and tone the facial contours while nourishing the skin. Finishing with your choice of a soothing scalp massage or hand and arm massage, you emerge feeling relaxed, nurtured and with beautifully smooth, radiant and nourished skin.

3. Mindful Breathing & Meditation
Drawing from the ancient practices of Pranayama and Yoga Nidra, this experience aims at training our busy minds to master conscious relaxation. It dissipates and prevents physical, mental and emotional tensions and consequently has a highly restorative effect on our entire being. During the practice of Yoga Nidra one feels as if in deep sleep but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. In this state of deep relaxation, the mind becomes exceptionally receptive to positive suggestions and intentions. The practice is instrumental to drive positive life changes, breaking habits and learning new things. This experience is a wonderful tonic to combat jet lag, exhaustion and convalescence as well as a great immune booster. Additionally many have found Yoga Nidra a valuable tool for managing and healing many psychosomatic diseases like insomnia, hypertension, digestive disorders, anxiety and depression.

4. Mindful Sleep
This tailor-made experience distinctively addresses physical and emotional stresses and strains. It begins by relieving deep-seated muscular tension with an indulgent and totally relaxing personalised massage using a combination of hot stones and warm oil gently poured onto your body. A soothing scalp massage then helps clear your mind and enables you to completely switch-off, while guided mindful breathing techniques further promote calm and relaxation. A personalised session of Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep follows, inducing complete physical and emotional relaxation through visualisation techniques. Anxieties are soothed and an uninterrupted, blissful night’s sleep awaits.

Guided by one of the expert personal trainers but governed by your own pace, this workout will entail aspects of aerobic exercise to raise your heart rate and boost the ‘feel good’ hormones in the beautiful St. James Park. Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and step out with one of the highly qualified personal trainers for a scenic run along the South Bank of the River Thames. Much more than just a run, the workout will incorporate bouts of high intensity exercise which is proven to be the most effective way of reducing body fat. Whilst taking in the city skyline, our trainers will help and advise on running techniques and breathing patterns throughout. Ease down over one of London’s landmark bridges and step back into the calm of ESPA Life, changing tact as the intensity lowers and attention naturally shifts to mindfulness and breathing techniques that our trainers will employ to ease any mental and muscular tensions. This is the Ultimate Adrenaline & Zen Cocktail. Taking fitness training beyond the confines of ESPA Life state-of-the-art gym, these programmes offer a definitive holistic approach to health and fitness as well as celebrating the beautiful destination. These customised outdoor fitness activities will have you taking in the sights along the banks of the River Thames or reconnecting with nature in the tranquil heaven of St. James Park in the heart of London. Following the exercise you will be treated to a deeply relaxing session of Yoga Nidra guided relaxation. These programmes can be enjoyed individually or as a small group.
