Happiness Conscious Water - The Spa Man

Conscious Water really is a thing

Conscious Water is a 100% natural flower essence water enhancer, that when added to water, makes a refreshing drink that adds a bit of aspiration to your day. So says the introduction on the website. We all know we need water and we all know that we should be drinking lots more of it. This could well be the answer we are looking for. In the spa post-treatment you will find jugs of water, often flavoured with slices of cucumber, lemon or lime. Conscious Water has come along to shake up the way we consume water, both in the spa and at home. It is based on the idea of flower essences, which some people believe are potent agents of change. About flower essences Flower essences are said to provide us with a natural way to adjust our body’s flow of energy. Flower essences are made by floating flowers in water and allowing the light of the sun to help the water absorb their energy. Modern flower remedies were first developed in the early 1930’s by Dr.Edward …

Thai Square Spa London - The Spa Man

Review: Thai Square Spa, London

Thai Square Spa brings a touch of Thailand to a new location in Northumberland Avenue. Situated in the beating heart of London, it’s a great day spa where you can spend a few hours relaxing and revitalising mind, body and soul. Housed within a beautifully converted Victorian Turkish bath, it’s more spacious than its former site in Covent Garden and gives a great sense of space for relaxation post-treatment. The decor evokes visions of modern style Thai spa. It’s not a cliche with heavy wood and fake artefacts. In some places it is lively and vibrant with bright tiles in hues of copper and red. There are a few traditional wood carvings, gilt-hued murals and a well placed buddha or two. The facilities include five Thai Massage treatment rooms, six Ritual Massage rooms and one vast VIP Suite Treatment Room with private relaxation zone and steam room form just part of this restorative haven. Other standout highlights include a Vichy Shower Treatment Room, Himalayan Salt House and Ice Fountain. Signature treatments include the Temple of Jade Hot Stone Body …

Niche Tea Sleep - The Spa Man

Niche Tea radiates wellness from within

The Niche Co has launched a range of premium wellness teas – simply called Niche Tea. The distinctive packaging is modern and smart although the gold embossed branding is sometimes lost a bit. However its what’s inside that counts. I really love these teas – and despite the cost. I believe its worth paying for quality tea. Niche has researched global herbal techniques and explored over 130 tea estates to create the sophisticated collection with specially designed formulas of medicinal natural herbs. With a choice of six, including teas created specifically to enhance the Mind, Body, Skin, Hair, Cleansing and Sleep, the tea tubes are packed with a healing and soothing blend of herbs that create a sense of wellness from within. Niche Tea radiates wellness from within Niche Tea products are ethically sourced and the production promises that there are no hidden ingredients or flavourings in the tea, and only 100% natural herbs. This for me is essential, as so many tea blends are really bad imitation flavours that are saccharine to taste and really rather horrible. Niche Tea is full of …

Angsana Balaclava Mauritius - the Spa Man

Review: Angsana Balaclava Mauritius

Angsana Balaclava Mauritius occupies a stunning spot on the scenic northwest coast of Mauritius on the tranquil shores of Turtle Bay. The all-suite resort is a romantic getaway emulating a traditional Mauritian style with thatched roofs and natural stone. Rooms have sea or mountain views and showcase the sunset every evening.  Owing a great deal of design inspiration to its Asian heritage, Angsana Balaclava is a bright and breezy boutique resort that’s a perfect sunshine escape. With a small beach and a selection of sun beds and a boat house for water sports, you could easily spend your whole holiday here, but just beyond the gates are some of the major sights including the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, Grand Baie, La Bourdonnais and the capital Port Louis. The central feature of the Angsana Balaclava Mauritius resort is the main pool. The rooms benefit from large sitting areas, terraces, a huge comfy bed, spacious bathroom and large bath. There are a couple of restaurants (one for lunch by the pool and Oryza for breakfast and evening meals). It’s …

The Lanesborough, Oetker Collection. - The Spa Man

Hot new spa openings in London 2017

There are some really hot new spa openings in London 2017 and I for one am very excited. The London spa market operates in a bit of a bubble, and it continues to boom. Although, having said that, across the UK there are some very big  projects set to launch this year too. From day spas and urban retreats to the the uber-luxury of five-star properties it appears that our desire for new spa experiences in the capital has not been satisfied. 2017 marks a year of new developments, investment and openings. The City of London is a central focus with the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square and The Ned bringing spa luxury to the city. Whilst near Hyde Park, The Lanesborough is opening its Club & Spa. Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square (March 2017) From mid-March 2017, Four Seasons is set to open in the City of London. House of Elemis - The Spa Man

Review: The House of Elemis, London

The House of Elemis is the showcase for Elemis, one of the spa industry’s great British success stories. The House of Elemis (on the site of its former flagship day spa) has totally reimagined the space creating a new iconic location for a brand that is aiming for the stars. Positioned as the creative heart of Elemis, the Mayfair townhouse retains the warmth and charm of the brand with a totally new look and feel. Men should practice mindfulness

5 Reasons Men Should Practice Mindfulness

Men should practice mindfulness. It’s something that I have written about before and I have now invited Paul Joseph from Health and Fitness Travel to comment on the growing trend of mindfulness and round-up 5 Reasons Men Should Practice Mindfulness. Paul says…. Women are attracted by practicing mindfulness more but things are changing and more men are starting to see the benefits of integrating mindfulness in their daily life. Paul Joseph, co-founder of Health and Fitness Travel, the leading specialists in tailor-made wellness holidays worldwide looks at 5 reasons why men should give mindfulness a good attempt and embrace the challenge. The art of mindfulness focuses the thinkers’ attention on their inner thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. Men should practice mindfulness to re-focus their minds, to achieve inner balance and stability, with a mindfulness retreat being a relaxing opportunity for those looking to re-connect with their mind and body. Attempting to balance the pressures of home and work life can result in a stressed emotional state, so practicing mindfulness will help men to remain calm, support …

Four Seasons Anahita - Mauritius - Spa Villa

Review: Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita

Situated on a quiet stretch of coast on the east coast of the island, Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita is a luxury personified. With its own private island, calm lagoon and pristine white beaches guest accommodation includes a range of secluded private pool or garden villas. The resort makes the most of its coastal setting offering water sports and diving activities for all ages. The pristine beaches with comfy loungers and attentive waiter service ensures that there’s little more to do than enjoy a cocktail or two. Spa Experience by Better Male bamboo massage

Spa London becomes Spa Experience by Better

Spa Experience by Better is the new brand new name for Spa London. I’ve written about Spa London and talked about it on BBC Radio 4 and am a big fan for a number of reasons. The team has partnered with quality spa brands and offers excellent treatments at competitive prices. It makes spa affordable for more people and spreading the art of relaxation through the wider population is a very good thing in my book. Spa Experience by Better is a fresh new look for the spa group which has locations right across London and the South and the business has some very interesting plans to expand the concept nationwide. Partner brands include Elemis, La Sultane De Saba, Murad and Essie. The group first launched in 2007 with a single spa at Bethnal Green in East London.  The facility was the UK’s first ever public sector day spa and created a niche offering in the market, by offering a high quality service, but with less of the cost and exclusivity of spas that had existed before. There are currently …

SenSpa Thai Rituals

SenSpa launches new Thai Rituals Range

I was very excited to hear that SenSpa has launched the Thai Rituals Range. I’m a big fan of the brand and have loved each product range they have launched so far.  Now you too can treat yourself with an escape to the Far East – at home! The SenSpa Thai Rituals collection combines the best of natural and exotic ingredients and essential oils, including organic hibiscus flower and slang slang. Its more floral than I expected, and lacks the distinctive notes of ginger or lemongrass. What you will find is a blend that is more complex, exploring some more of the lesser known scents of the Far East. With this capsule collection of four bath and body products you can transform your everyday bathing ritual in an instant. Each product has been expertly formulated to deliver an unparalleled at-home-spa experience. SenSpa Thai Rituals Range The SenSpa Thai Rituals range includes four inspiring new products: Float Away Bath Soak (£5.95, 250ml) – Combining bamboo shoot and frangipani extracts with neroli, ylang ylang and jasmine essential oils, this bath soak offers …

Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor

Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor reviewed

Ockenden Manor has launched a new spa menu featuring a range of treatments from Elemental Herbology and it’s a match made in spa heaven. Ockenden Manor is a cosy Elizabethan manor house with exposed wooden beams and low ceilings situated in the picturesque village of Cuckfield, East Sussex. The spa is built inside a 19th century walled garden and the modern design of the building is a complete contrast to the main hotel building. And as a stand-alone spa it’s is one of the South East’s most impressive. It’s a true countryside setting which benefits from nine acres of parklands and gardens plus all the mod cons you would expect from a contemporary spa. I visited in November 2016 to experience the new partnership with Elemental Herbology. The team at Elemental Herbology has developed a brand new treatment menu, connecting guests with the five elements through a series of bespoke treatments which feature its award-winning products and unique rituals. Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor The crowing glory on the spa menu is the bespoke new …

Galgorm Resort and Spa - the Spa Man

Review: Galgorm Resort and Spa, Northern Ireland

Galgorm Resort and Spa is just over half an hour from Belfast and is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Situated by the gorgeous river Maine, and set within 163 acres of lush parkland it’s billed as Northern Ireland’s premier luxury hotel and spa. You will most certainly be greeted with a warm welcome and attentive service, it’s a big property with a big heart and passionate staff. It’s recent expansion and the launch of the Thermal Village has added an additional 48 guest rooms but at no point do you feel crowded or over run with people. Three restaurants and two bars (including a gin and champagne bar) means there are plenty of options for dining and drinking. The River Room offers a classy menu with refined service, Gillies has more hearty fare and Fratelli Restaurante has an Italian menu featuring pasta and pizza. Countryside walks or day trips to the north coast are within easy reach or you could simply lounge in the spa day in day out. …
