Korres Yoghurt Collection - The Spa Man

Korres launches new Yoghurt Bath and Body Collection

Greek yoghurt is part of the DNA of Greek Culture so it’s no surprise that Korres has developed its Yoghurt Bath and Body Collection. It’s the perfect summer skincare range for the body, cooling and soothing and instantly transports you to a sunny Mediterranean island in the Aegean Sea. The new Yoghurt bodycare essentials, including Showergel, Body Milk, Body Butter and Hand Cream, are powered with the leading ingredient’s ultra-moisturising properties to deliver lasting hydration, deep nourishment and smoothing action. Koreas offer some great Greek themed bath and body collections and infuse the skincare line with some of the very best ingredients from the Greek islands too. Greek Υoghurt is renowned for its beauty benefits due to its high levels of lactose, proteins, minerals and vitamins, which all work to increase the moisture levels in the upper layers of the skin. In fact Korres was the first brand to add real edible Yoghurt when it launched the iconic, Yoghurt Cooling Gel. The range includes: KORRES YOGHURT SHOWERGEL RRP: £8.00 Creamy-foam showergel enriched with moisturizing Yoghurt , Wheat proteins …

Olverum Bath Oil - the Spa Man

You need this bath oil in your life (PS: it’s Olverum)

Olverum Bath Oil really is a product you really do need in your life. It’s relaxing, stress-relieving, soothes aches and pains and helps to clear the head too. Regular readers will know that I love to bathe. It’s one of the few times I truly stop. I put down the iPhone and iPad, step away from the computer and stop. I might light a candle, play some music and occasionally will read a magazine. But one constant is an excellent bath oil formulated with the very best quality essential oils. Olverum Bath Oil is one such oil. It’s a heady mix of potent oils that pack a punch. You don’t need much – they say 5ml is plenty and thus, it spreads the cost and makes it a reasonable purchase and quite pocket friendly. It has a carefully selected range of botanical oils and plant extracts that is unisex and perfect after a long hard day in the office. This blend has been around since 1931 when it was developed in Germany. Give yourself a little me-time right now. …

SenSpa Thai Rituals

SenSpa launches new Thai Rituals Range

I was very excited to hear that SenSpa has launched the Thai Rituals Range. I’m a big fan of the brand and have loved each product range they have launched so far.  Now you too can treat yourself with an escape to the Far East – at home! The SenSpa Thai Rituals collection combines the best of natural and exotic ingredients and essential oils, including organic hibiscus flower and slang slang. Its more floral than I expected, and lacks the distinctive notes of ginger or lemongrass. What you will find is a blend that is more complex, exploring some more of the lesser known scents of the Far East. With this capsule collection of four bath and body products you can transform your everyday bathing ritual in an instant. Each product has been expertly formulated to deliver an unparalleled at-home-spa experience. SenSpa Thai Rituals Range The SenSpa Thai Rituals range includes four inspiring new products: Float Away Bath Soak (£5.95, 250ml) – Combining bamboo shoot and frangipani extracts with neroli, ylang ylang and jasmine essential oils, this bath soak offers …

Voya Lazy Days

Voya Lazy Days reviewed

I’ve been a fan of Voya for some time and was privileged to visit the home of the brand on the West Coast of Ireland a few years back to learn about the benefits of seaweed and the joys of a seaweed bath – which you can now enjoy at home thanks to the spa-at-home seaweed bath in a box – Voya Lazy Days. Voya hand-harvests organic seaweed using traditional methods and combines it with Dead Sea salt to create Lazy Days. The seaweed is dried using a special technique and packaged and sent around the world so that everyone can enjoy the hydrating, skin-caring benefits of a relaxing seaweed bath. Voya Lazy Days Placed in hot water, the seaweed naturally rehydrates and springs back to life in an instant and releases a kind of alginate which is both soothing and moisturising. It feels great on the skin and because the seaweed is in a mesh bag – its not too weird on the skin. For a full experience I ripped the bag open to allow the seaweed to float …

Malée Conditioning Body Scrub 250ml

You need this in your life: Malée

I was recently introduced to a new brand, Malée, which heralds from Africa. It is not only natural but uses some uplifting ingredients that create a lovely body care range to spa-at-home. Malée [pronounced May-lay] has first launched its Verdure line in the UK, which has a fresh light summery scent. Said to be inspired by Africa’s wetlands on a dewy morning when moisture is plentiful it combines a pleasing blend of essential oils. The uplifting and revitalising notes of Citrus, Mint and the earthy warmth of Patchouli. It reminded me of a recent holiday in Mauritius. All natural ingredients in Malée All Malée products use 100% natural active ingredients sourced for their efficacy and quality. Gentle enough for daily use, they are suitable for all skin types. No allergens, parabens, silicones, mineral oils or animal derived ingredients. Each Malée product contains carefully selected natural active ingredients which can be found plentiful in the African plains. The average kitchen cupboard and have been used over generations to heal, soothe, nourish and protect skin. Ingredients such as shea butter, cacao seed …

Five of the best bath oils

The beauty of bath oils is that, in an instant you can create a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home. Any time of the year is a good time to bathe. However, the cooler months Autumn and winter are my favourites. Choose the oil to suit your needs – whether you need a pick-me-up or a soothing calm and relaxing treat. Light a candle or two, pop on some soothing sounds and a glass of wine is fine too. This is The Spa Man’s pick of his favourite bath oils at the moment. The Spa Man’s Five of the best bath oils Russie Blanche Banya De-stress Bath & Shower Oil Lavender, ginger, vetiver and bergamot essential oils combine with nourishing sweet almond and macadamia oil to relax the muscles and calm the mind. For me this is one of the best bath oils around. www.spavoyage.co.uk Repêchage Sea Spa Massage, Bath & Body Oil Rosemary and geranium essential oils are blended with hydrating soybean and anti-oxidant rich Carrot oil and vitamin E, to …

I love a bit of LUX*

I came across the LUX* ME range of spa products earlier in the year and was immediately impressed with the smart packaging and no-nonsense style. It tells it how it is. The Lemongrass and Marjoram Bath Oil is a heady mix of asian infused spicy oils which also includes peach, evening primrose, rose hip, peppermint, lavender and of course there is lemongrass and marjoram. You are instantly transported to a tropical island from the minute you pour the oil into a warm bath. Soak for half an hour – it’s bliss. What I was most surprised about was my new-found love for the room spray. Give me a candle or reed diffuser – I’m there. But I’ve always associated room spray with air freshener and the rooms sprays I’ve tried up till now have been fake smelling, overly fragranced and really rather cheap. LUX* ME Mauritius Mango & Papaya Room Mist (how could you resist a name like that) is sweet-smelling and a true delight. It’s like opening the window and a tropical breeze blowing …

Elemental Herbology and Resense create new Kempinski amenities

I love hotel amenities. And I hold my hands up to admit I take a clean sweep of them as I exit the room. They are, for the most part all travel sized, which means they are perfect for an overnight stay or a weekend away with limited cabin baggage (i.e. under 100ml). And what’s best is that you get to try new and interesting brands and sometimes ones you’ve not heard of before. So I was pleased to hear about the triple partnership between Resense (a spa consultant and management brand) and Elemental Herbology, who have jointly created amenities that will be exclusively available in suites throughout Kempinski Hotels globally. Made in Italy and prescribed by Resense, the amenity range consists of four “base products”, handpicked for their individual efficacy. The Deep Cleanse (body wash), Shiny Locks (shampoo) and Hair Soufflé (conditioner) adds an element of luxury to guests’ shower rituals, while the Skin Drink (body lotion) will deeply hydrate leaving skin nourished and soft. I’ve been testing the body wash and am impressed. …

Aveda’s Earth Month Candle

Aveda has launched a charity candle in support of Earth Month this April and pledges to donate 100% of the RRP of its signature limited edition Light the Way Candle to Global Greengrants Fund, which is a non-profit organisation that channels high-impact grassroots groups working to solve environmental problems around the world. Now that’s what I call a proper charitable donation. Most beauty companies offer a paltry 5% of profits for charity. In fact since 2009 Aveda has raised $9 million  through the sales of this candle. Buying the candle, which is perfect for creating a spa at home, will support people to access clean water. One purchase can provide one year’s worth of drinking water for a person living in Madagascar. The candle is housed in 100% reclaimed glass beverage bottles, outer cartons are made from 90% post-consumer recycled paperboard. And the candle you burn?  It’s made from pure flower and plant aromas crafted from 100% certified organic oils, including Organic Vanilla, Cinnamon and Ylang Ylang from Madagascar. Oh so spa. £16 www.aveda.co.uk

What a BRYT idea

A new addition to the skincare and grooming scene is great little British brand called BRYT Skincare. It’s a bright, fresh concept which has just launched in Waitrose. The basic premise is a simple 3-step process of Cleansing, Nourishing and Protecting to maintain an uncomplicated  regime. It embraces skincare as part of a healthy lifestyle, along with the basics of exercising, getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet and drinking lots of water. Aromatherapy meets Phytoscience is the USP,  utilising botanical ingredients which make it a sensory pleasure to use, but deliver some great results. The range consists of eight products for Her and four for Him. Each features the innovative Advanced Phytoscience System (APS), which includes pure aloe vera, healing allantoin and rich ‘super antioxidants’ extracted from organic Australian wild-harvested plums Kakadu, Burdekin and Illawarra – these superfruits contain up to five times more antioxidant power than blueberries. I am a sucker for a great smelling shower gel and BRYT didn’t disappoint. There’s four products in the men’s range and this would suit a …

AromaWorks goes spa

AromaWorks is an aromatherapy brand that’s been on the edge of my radar for a few years, but is now firmly in my sights as it’s launched in two of the UK’s best spas – Grayshott Spa in Surrey and Lifehouse Spa, in Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex. I thought it was high time I gave the brand a trial run, so the candle and reed diffuser were put to the test and came up trumps. The candle is lovely and creates a fine fragrance in the home. AromaWorks’ candles are hand poured in Britain and are made using only natural soy and beeswax with no additives. What really impressed me was the reed diffuser. I’ve tried and failed with reed diffusers in the past – most being chucked out because the fragrance is too strong, too overpowering or simply too synthetic or just plain horrible. Serenity Reed Diffuser contains pure essential oils of lemongrass, geranium and neroli and it filled the room gently and elegantly.   You can find the brand online and now, as previously mentioned …

Korres Santorini Vine

Korres is quintessentially Greek to me. The ingredients, the collections and the inspiration. Popular right across the country, it’s widely available around the world and this year the brand launched two partner products inspired by the icon of the Greek islands, Santorini. If you have ever been to this beautiful island in the Aegean, you will know it’s famous for the white Cycladic architecture,  a breathtaking landscape and the huge caldera (and some eye watering prices in bars with a view). What you may not know is that the island is also famous for wine, particularly the white grape, Assyrtiko, from which this collection takes its inspiration. The range itself has a fruity note and grape extract which creates a distinct, naturally sweet aroma. Influenced by the volcanic soil in which it grows and the sea air, this collection is enhanced by additional notes of green apple, floral, citrus, peach and minerals – all reminiscent of green fresh blossoming vineyards…the scent of Santorini in the Summer. SANTORINI VINE SHOWERGEL RRP: £8.00 (250ml) It’s fresh, light …

Bodhi unveils new branding

Bodhi is one of those brands that I really rate. I love the ethos, the packaging and the product. Now, after just three years it has rebranded as Bodhi & Birch. I am currently loving the Pep Noir Shower Gel – it’s spicy and peppery and has a great texture, so you don’t lose half of it before you can apply it to your body. It’s the perfect start to the day. Don’t know Bodhi? It draws on a mix of Eastern and Western skincare and wellbeing philosophies, with some additional inspiration from the healing power of nature and traditional botanical remedies. Made in England, Bodhi & Birch products are expertly blended using natural ingredients ethically sourced from sustainable origins. I love how the brand uses an unusualy and heady mix of essential oils and active botanicals. It’s truly distinctive. The entire range is designed to stimulate the regeneration of healthy skin and maintain it at optimum levels. I haven’t tried any of the facial skincare range to date (which is quite comprehensive) but it’s …
