Four Seasons Hampshire has introduced The Escape, a new experiential fitness retreat that is designed to take participants out of their comfort zone, to push the boundaries of mind, body and soul. It’s an active programme that combines food, fitness and a touch of fun (with some great spa therapies thrown in).
Four Seasons country outpost is set in the middle of 500 acres of picturesque Hampshire countryside. It’s a peaceful setting just an hour from London, with plenty of walks and lots of space to free the mind.
The Escape, created by top fitness professionals is high energy. Expect 12 hours of fitness experiences from military style training to yoga, which is balanced with around three hours of spa treatments to soothe your aching muscles and some exceptional healthy and nutritious food. What could be better?
On day one, your journey will begin as you are issued with your personalised Escape kit and your mobile devices are locked away! This is a digital detox too. You will head out on a tour of the Estate by Landrover, mountain bikes and on foot, to get a feel for the local environment (where you will spend many hours exercising over the next few days). The day concludes with a meditation session.
Day two will start with an early wakeup call and two extreme exercise classes, pushing you to your fitness limits. A nutritious, energy-boosting breakfast follows with a nutritional masterclass to learn the how and why of healthy eating.
US military trained Joshua Blackmer takes a hard-core boot camp, then you dive into an ice bath (it’s not for the feint hearted). Then a tailored spa treatment – Sacred Warrior, which has been developed especially for this retreat. Balancing energy and tranquility with muscle manipulation, shiatsu and Lomi Lomi, the session is set to a rousing soundtrack that traverses jungle soundscapes, Blade Runner-esque electro and deep primal spiritual beats. I loved it. Yoga and stretching concludes the day’s activities.
On the final day, a Thai Chi session followed by an exhilarating adventure through the Highwire Adventure is topped off with one final indulgent spa treatment. It’s hard work but finely balanced with moments of tranquility from meditation, to yoga and Tai Chi.
Talking about The Escape, one of the key creators and instructors, ex US military soldier, Joshua Blackmer, explains:
“The purpose of our boot camp is to push individuals outside of their comfort zones, both mentally and physically. When training in the army, I learnt that when put in the right environment there are no limits on what you can achieve. With The Escape we will give you a foundation of knowledge concerning health, training and nutrition and something completely outside the normal routine of the gym or studio.”
The Escape retreat includes up to 12 hours of training, three hours of spa treatments, breakfasts, healthy lunches and dinners, use of the spa facilities and two nights’ accommodation.
The ESCAPE is priced at £1,850 and takes place Friday 14th June – Sunday 16th June 2019
