Bernice Robinson: Holistic Reiki Master & Crystal Healer
There is a first time to experience everything in life and I headed to Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre at Hotel Café Royal to try Reiki for the first time.
It’s a therapy I know little about and was perhaps a touch skeptical.
What is Reiki?
In lay terms, Reiki is a healing technique based on the idea that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch. It’s in part designed to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. There is an element of healing, of being open to the energy of the earth and the universe.
I met Bernice Robinson a year or so ago and felt an immediate connection with her. She is a trained therapist who practices elements of beauty and massage, but she prefers more holistic treatments and has been recognized for her skills with professional nominations and awards.
Specialising in Reiki and crystal healing, Bernice harnesses her natural healing ability and intuitive expertise along with the powers of crystals to take you on a journey of complete deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Akasha is a great spa and I took a swim before hand to relax first. The cocooning treatment rooms are like little chambers of calm. It’s a true oasis in the city. Guided to my room Bernice explained the key elements of what Reiki is and what would happen in the treatment. Combining an aura cleanse, crystal therapist and a Reiki session.
After cleansing my aura with incense and a specific technique crystals were placed across various points on my body. Crystal therapy is having a moment in 2017 and crystal facials are certainly popular. This is less traditional spa treatment and more healing/holistic therapy.
Reiki, with crystals is said to result in a pure natural sense of wellbeing for your mind, body and soul as you drift into a deeper state of relaxation where all tensions escape and calm is restored to the root and sacral chakra. I did feel a sense of calm during the treatment and was thoroughly relaxed at the end. After the treatment I felt light heading, almost giddy. And instead of heading back to my office and work. I walked to Green Park with a healthy salad and sat in the sun. I rarely take such a moment to myself. I felt free. The following few days I felt my emotions were more up and down than normal (Bernice said this is quite normal following a Reiki session). Since then I have been more balanced. And actually made some life-changing decisions. Attributing these directly to the session? I’m not so sure. But what I do believe is that there is an incredibly potency to the power of touch and that personal connection between people and that transfer of energy is profound. Bernice is a very special woman. Kind, warm and caring with an open and warm personality. She is available at Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre and various locations around London.
