Banyan Tree Lang Co is situated in a quiet, remote stretch of coastline in central Vietnam about an hour north of Danang. Isolated and peaceful the all-pool villa resort is a tranquil retreat from the crazy daily life in Vietnam’s main cities and tourist hot spots. It provides the perfect getaway for a few days or even longer. There’s plenty to do for the active traveller, with watersports, cycling and day trips to the imperial city of Hue and the heritage town of Hoi an. For a more leisurely break you can laze by the main pool, sun bathe on the beach or retreat to your private pool villa for total harmony. Take a cooking class, yoga, archery or more, there are over 140 activities on site available, or take some time out in the spa. With the sister property, Angsana just next door, it increases the choices for food and daily activities.
The service is friendly, warm and attentive and remains faithful to the Banyan Tree concept. The main buildings are modern and a little austere, with three restaurants and a bar/cafe on site. Azzura serves daily Italian and some Vietnamese dishes. Watercourt is where the breakfast action takes place with a full buffet with fabulous fruits, continental breakfast and an Asian menu including curries and dim sum. Watercourt also serves a great range of traditional Vietnamese cuisine in the evenings. And naturally, the signature restaurant, Saffron (just up the hill) serves exquisite Thai food.
The villas at Banyan Tree Lang Co dotted around the property in landscapes gardens with some facing the lagoon and a string of exclusive villas on the beach facing the sea. All are in the traditional Banyan Tree style with nods to Vietnamese design and art.
It’s a fabulous resort offering peace, tranquility and privacy in the most gorgeous surroundings. The pine tree fringed beach is huge, stretching for a few miles and is never crowded. At times we were the only couple in sight. In the evening you can relax by your private pool, drink in hand listening to the sounds of birdsong, the haunting call of gibbons in the trees, cicadas, geckos and frogs. It’s really rather magical.
The spa at Banyan Tree Lang Co
Welcoming guests to the spa with a refreshing towel and pandan juice, the friendly staff explained the various options on the massage menu. It was one of the most comprehensive introductions I have had and the spa receptionist gave a really great overview of each massage technique. Choosing Lomi Lomi for me was a no brainier. I love this massage and have had it before at a Banyan Tree spa before, and it didn’t disappoint.
After selecting one of the fragrances to sit beneath the head rest you meet your therapist and are walked to one of the stand alone spa villas. Each with its own entrance hall, changing room, shower and seating space, the couple’s treatment room also has a double Vichy shower room. Designed with an Asian theme featuring dark woods and textured wallpaper, the soft furnishings pay homage to Vietnamese design. As with all Banyan Tree spas, once you have donned your robe you are treated to a foot wash using green tea and honey then the treatment begins. Using a special local oil (which we requested) the relaxing massage used long flowing strokes mostly with elbows and forearms to stretch and relax the musk paces for a total body therapy that was bliss.
Post treatment it’s time to enjoy some tea, we chose chrysanthemum tea with honey to chill in the main seating area in the spa.
