A tranquil space, situated in the heart of a prestigious sports club. There’s no denying that Re: SPA at the Reebok Sports Club at Canary Wharf is high end. It’s modern, smart, welcoming and the perfect setting to indulge in a pampering treatment or resolve the niggling injuries or muscle and skeletal issues from working out in the gym.
The spa appreciates it location and its treatment menu reflects that. For those in the know, the spa was designed by Sparcstudio. There’s a well-rounded men’s treatment menu, a manicure station in reception and even a relaxation area (this was unexpected). The only drawback – you can hear the bangs and crashes of the gym in the relaxation area, but this sounds isn’t heard in the treatment rooms. There is an incredible array of facial treatments – too many in my humble opinion. Potentially confusing for the customer, but I suppose it does offer choice for the spa-savvy guest.
There’s a real focus on express treatments and you can have everything done from waxing to tanning and everything in between.
It’s the health and wellness tratment menu that really appeals – its a spa in a gym after all. Physiotherapy, osteopathy, podiatry, reflexology and even counselling are all services offered. This is impressive and appeals to the wellness side of my brain.
The Reebok Sport Club is massive – there’s every piece of equipment imaginable. Occupying three floors it has the largest free weights area in London (10,000 sq ft) with over 500 pieces of cardio and full body strength training equipment. It overlooks Canada Square in Canary Wharf and makes the most of views where it can with huge windows all around. I was treated to a Personal Trainer on my visit and used the time to update a few core exercises, hone my technique for stengthening my lower back and learn how to care for my poor old knees. The gym has a climbing wall, indoor basketball court, indoor pool and is one of the most well-appointed gyms I have visited to date. I had the Reebok Muscle Melt Massage on my visit using Aromatherapy Associates. A deep tissue massage using hot stones was wholly relaxing and totally sublime. It incorporates the Aromatherapy Associates De-stress Oil and Leg gel. Using stimulating ginger and black pepper, along with deep cross frictions to melt away knots, tension and pain.
I was advised to leave the oil and gel on for as long as possible for it to have the most beneficial effect. Despite a tentative start, the therapist relaxed and provided a good massage that was calming and relaxing.
