Review: Terre Blanche, Provence

Spa terre blanche (6)

THE SPA:

The Spa at Terre Blanche is a rather magnificent building set in the grounds of the hotel and golf resort, in the picturesque countryside of Provence. Featuring a 20 metre indoor pool connected to an outdoor vitality pool with great water jets and water massage beds, the water facilities connect the indoor and outdoor space with style. I loved the outdoor relaxation space and sun loungers where you can enjoy the warmth and scent of the spacious herb gardens.

Sauna, steam room, laconium, ice fountain and experience showers can be found poolside and also in both the men’s and women’s changing rooms. Complete with 12 treatment rooms, two fabulous couples treatment rooms (with private terrace) hair salon, boutique, gym and yoga studio – you could spend a day here and never be bored.

THE TREATMENT:

A full head to toe body massage is one of life’s great pleasures and this was no disappointment at Terre Blanche. You choose your essential oil combination at reception, prior to your treatment and this is used throughout.  Keen to be revitalised and refreshed after my massage, I chose one of my favourite combinations – Lemongrass and Mandarin. Lavender, Jasmine and Ylang Ylang were the other options. In a modern treatment rooms I relaxed into the top to toe treatment. Targeting each major muscle group, including a stomach and head massage, it was bliss.

THE RESORT:

You can’t visit Terre Blanche without mentioning the hotel and resort. The 5 star Resort is one of Europe’s premier golfing destinations and boasts two 18 hole golf courses. Part of the Leading Hotels of the World, there are four restaurants on site – Faventina serves exquisite French gastronomy (including a tasting menu that is the best I’ve ever experienced), Guadina offers a more rustic take on Provençal cuisine, Tousco Grill for relaxed dining by the pool and Caroubiers is the restaurant and bar at the Clubhouse.

Accommodation at Terre Blanche is in a series of suites and villas dotted around the gardens of the main building. It’s so expertly designed, you rarely see other guests and there is a true feeling of seclusion and privacy. You must relax by the large infinity pool which has views across the Provence countryside. Lazy days by the pool, sipping cocktails – it’s heaven in Provence.
