Ruffians Barber Shop & Store has become a landmark in Edinburgh and has now arrived in London’s Covent Garden. A total grooming destination it draws on a similar style to it’s Scottish counterpart but incorporates features unique to its site in Maiden Lane. Original brick walls and aged timber floors have been kept and restored, giving the space its own distinctive character. As I’ve been quite into spa design features lately, it’s timely to note that this new build was expertly crafted by Graven Images. Graven Images has a great track record including the Missoni Hotel, Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago and my Glaswegian home away from home – Blythswood Square Hotel.
It’s masculine without being too blokey and features traditional barber chairs and great oak desks, natural light and large Edison filament bulbs fixed to the ceiling. There’s even a wood-burning fire place in the reception area with iPads for customer use, this is one cool hangout.
You can grab a coffee (there’s a coffee bar) or a whiskey and then there’s men’s grooming, the wash and cut area sits at the rear of the salon. Hair cut, wet shave or beard tidy – this is your place.
Remember, you are in Covent Garden so a hair cut will cost around £45.
Cut-throat razor shave is £45 including: Facial consultation, exfoliation, hot and cold towels, cut-throat razor shave, head, shoulder and neck massage, moisturising balm – 45 minutes.
