SenSpa Thai Rituals

SenSpa launches new Thai Rituals Range

I was very excited to hear that SenSpa has launched the Thai Rituals Range. I’m a big fan of the brand and have loved each product range they have launched so far.  Now you too can treat yourself with an escape to the Far East – at home! The SenSpa Thai Rituals collection combines the best of natural and exotic ingredients and essential oils, including organic hibiscus flower and slang slang. Its more floral than I expected, and lacks the distinctive notes of ginger or lemongrass. What you will find is a blend that is more complex, exploring some more of the lesser known scents of the Far East. With this capsule collection of four bath and body products you can transform your everyday bathing ritual in an instant. Each product has been expertly formulated to deliver an unparalleled at-home-spa experience. SenSpa Thai Rituals Range The SenSpa Thai Rituals range includes four inspiring new products: Float Away Bath Soak (£5.95, 250ml) – Combining bamboo shoot and frangipani extracts with neroli, ylang ylang and jasmine essential oils, this bath soak offers …

Voya Lazy Days

Voya Lazy Days reviewed

I’ve been a fan of Voya for some time and was privileged to visit the home of the brand on the West Coast of Ireland a few years back to learn about the benefits of seaweed and the joys of a seaweed bath – which you can now enjoy at home thanks to the spa-at-home seaweed bath in a box – Voya Lazy Days. Voya hand-harvests organic seaweed using traditional methods and combines it with Dead Sea salt to create Lazy Days. The seaweed is dried using a special technique and packaged and sent around the world so that everyone can enjoy the hydrating, skin-caring benefits of a relaxing seaweed bath. Voya Lazy Days Placed in hot water, the seaweed naturally rehydrates and springs back to life in an instant and releases a kind of alginate which is both soothing and moisturising. It feels great on the skin and because the seaweed is in a mesh bag – its not too weird on the skin. For a full experience I ripped the bag open to allow the seaweed to float …

Soak Steam Dream Roca Gallery

Soak, Steam, Dream: Reinventing Bathing Culture

Soak, Steam, Dream: Reinventing Bathing Culture 16 September 2016 – 28 January 2017 Admission free Soak, Steam, Dream: Reinventing Bathing Culture is a new exhibition that explores a new communal bathing culture through the work of contemporary architects and designers. The exhibition is part of the 2016 London Design Festival and features international bathhouse projects by Peter Zumthor, Skene Catling de la Peña, H3T architekti and Kengo Kuma. These all re-imagine the bathhouse as a social space, factoring in smart water use for the 21st century. This is particularly exciting for The Spa Man, as it’s rare that spa and bathing culture receives this kind of public platform. This is especially interesting given that we are witnessing a return to traditional forms of bathing and a renewed interest in communal bathing traditions. Curator Jane Withers says, ‘There has been an extraordinarily rich architecture and culture associated with communal bathing since ancient times. With the arrival of the private bathroom and a more clinical approach to sanitation and wellbeing, we have lost this leisurely sense of the …

Malée Conditioning Body Scrub 250ml

You need this in your life: Malée

I was recently introduced to a new brand, Malée, which heralds from Africa. It is not only natural but uses some uplifting ingredients that create a lovely body care range to spa-at-home. Malée [pronounced May-lay] has first launched its Verdure line in the UK, which has a fresh light summery scent. Said to be inspired by Africa’s wetlands on a dewy morning when moisture is plentiful it combines a pleasing blend of essential oils. The uplifting and revitalising notes of Citrus, Mint and the earthy warmth of Patchouli. It reminded me of a recent holiday in Mauritius. All natural ingredients in Malée All Malée products use 100% natural active ingredients sourced for their efficacy and quality. Gentle enough for daily use, they are suitable for all skin types. No allergens, parabens, silicones, mineral oils or animal derived ingredients. Each Malée product contains carefully selected natural active ingredients which can be found plentiful in the African plains. The average kitchen cupboard and have been used over generations to heal, soothe, nourish and protect skin. Ingredients such as shea butter, cacao seed …

Five of the best bath oils

The beauty of bath oils is that, in an instant you can create a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home. Any time of the year is a good time to bathe. However, the cooler months Autumn and winter are my favourites. Choose the oil to suit your needs – whether you need a pick-me-up or a soothing calm and relaxing treat. Light a candle or two, pop on some soothing sounds and a glass of wine is fine too. This is The Spa Man’s pick of his favourite bath oils at the moment.
