Review: Sri panwa, Phuket

Sri panwa is in a class of its own. Effortlessly cool, it is a mix of private residences and pool villas perched at the tip of Cape Panwa in Phuket. Set in lush tropical surroundings, this really is luxury personified, but ever so relaxed in the delivery. The staff are warm, open and eager to help, but not in your face. All of the pool villas have their own 12 metre infinity edge pool which wraps around the bedroom and separate living space. There’s a day bed, two bathrooms, terrace and sun loungers and naturally, ipod docks are programmed with the very latest, chilled beats. On arrival at Sri panwa you are greeted by your personal villa assistant who can handle any request, no matter how big or small. Our two requests – cold milk for our tea in the morning and finding my notebook, which was on the other side of Phuket – returned with a smile. It’s peaceful, tranquil and very, very private. Review: Amanpuri, Phuket

THE RESORT: Set amongst coconut trees on a secluded private peninsula, Amanpuri, Phuket epitomises luxury in a relaxed, eastern style. Thai-styled Pavilions are dotted around the coconut plantation, overlooking the Andaman Sea and feature a king-size bed, oversized bathrooms, spacious dressing areas and an outdoor sala (Thai style relaxation space) with a sun deck and dining terrace. There are also larger pavilions and private villas on site too. Truly Thai, you could stay in your room, order in food and hide away from the world. And we did for a while, but then wanted to explore.  Amanpuri’s private beach is pristine with pure white sand and luxury sun loungers. If sand is not your scene, try relaxing by the pool or enjoy complimentary afternoon tea of Thai pancakes and tropical fruits. Dining options are plentiful with Italian, Thai and relaxed poolside dining. The food was excellent, the staff attentive and there’s a live performance of traditional Thai music in the evening.
