Review: Britannia Hotel and Spa, Trondheim, Norway

The Britannia Hotel is an iconic hotel in the northern city of Trondheim. It’s a stunning destination hotel with a gorgeous spa. Dating back to 1870 (celebrating 150 years this year), the hotel reopened following a €140 million investment by its owner Odd Reitan. Re-imaged for the 21st century, the hotel still retains its unique sense of history. Contemporary yet elegant, it’s plush and refined, whilst being warm and welcoming. Also check out the casual French Brasserie, as well as Jonathon Grill which does grilled meat to perfection. The beautiful Palmhaven is …

Review: Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris

Raffles Paris – Le Royal Monceau plays host to Clarins Spa My Blend. Located just off the Arc de Triomphe – you couldn’t be better placed to enjoy Paris. It is literally flooded with natural daylight which is enhanced with very clever lighting effects. I loved the veiled walls which ensure that at any one point you couldn’t quite tell where you are. It was modern, classy and ever so chic. This is a hotel spa of distinction which allows you to relax (great sofas by the pool) enjoy some fresh juice and the healthy spa bar too – but epitomises cool at the same time. The centrepiece is the eye catching 28 metre indoor pool edged by an …

Here is a quick guide to the different types of spas you will find with a short explanation of each. Destination Spa Destination Spas are just that – the spa is the destination and main reason for visiting. It offers accommodation, spa cuisine and a whole programme of activities and events. Your stay will be all-inclusive and include spa treatments, fitness regimes, therapeutic treatments, educational classes and other wellness options. Minimum stays are often required. Destination spas are not just for holidays but to remedy problems and can be life changing.  Hotel Spa Hotel Spas are likely to be one of the first you will encounter. They should include a fitness suite or gym, a pool and sometimes other outdoor pursuits. The spa will feature a full-service treatment menu for beauty, grooming and therapeutic treatments.  The spa is an add-on to the hotel …
