Mandarin Oriental introduces Year of the Earth Dog Spa Experience

To celebrate Chinese New Year, which begins on 16 February 2018, Mandarin Oriental has launched the Year of the Earth Dog Spa Experience to ground and relax guests while rebalancing energy for both body and mind. Available all year, the treatment has been designed to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and ease pain and muscle tension during the year of the earth dog. The Earth Dog year is said to be one of action, requiring planning and energy in order to succeed. The Year of the Earth Dog Spa Experience incorporates several traditional elements to stimulate the senses, relax the mind and rejuvenate the body. To start; guests are welcomed with hot or cold towels infused with mandarin orange or tangerine oil, both of which symbolise good tidings. Review: Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum, Turkey

Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum has raised the bar for five-star luxury on the Turkish Riviera. Occupying an enviable position on a secluded stretch of coastline, the resort, a first for Mandarin Oriental in Europe is set amongst pine forests with two private beaches. The outstanding location and cutting edge design of this new resort ensures it’s a must-visit for the discerning traveller. With something for everyone, naturally there’s the beach, water sports, eight restaurants, jogging trails, kids club and a most impressive spa. The rooms are spacious and most have sea views. In fact space is the defining word of the property. There is room to move. High ceilings and a sense of light and openness define the sea facing monolith building. Sea views are captured at every turn, but that doesn’t detract from the exclusive feel and warmth of the hotel. Designed with signature dark wood panels, typical of many MO properties, marble is a key feature which is softened with splash of warm colour, yellow in particular help to add a comforting note to …

Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech is now open

I’m a fan of Mandarin Oriental so I was very excited to hear that its newest location is now open – in Morocco: Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech. The elegant and contemporary resort is set among 20 hectares of landscaped gardens filled with the scent of 100,000 roses, with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. A further nine spectacular suites, seven with their own rooftop plunge pool, feature panoramic vistas of the gardens and the surrounding countryside. The architect of the project is Pascal Desprez while the design of Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, rustic yet sophisticated, was created by renowned French architects, Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier. With its Berber and Andalusian-Arabic influences, the resort provides relaxed and stylish luxury for the cosmopolitan traveller. Featuring natural, local materials, the interior and …

The Spa Man’s favourite spas – 2014

This year its been a privilege to visit some incredible spas around Europe and a little further afield. From banana body wraps to mango body scrubs and some pretty intensive facial massage – I’ve been poked, prodded, refined and renewed. It’s been one incredible year of spa. Here’s a snap shot of my favourite spas of 2014. The Dolder Grand – Zurich The Dolder Grand certainly lives up to its name and reputation. Positioned high on the hill with commanding views across Zurich.  It combines modern five-star luxury, with old world charm and was magical. The spa is modern, spacious and covers an area of 4,000 sqm with room to move . It  offers a grandeur that few spas achieve, combining wellness with world class luxury. I honestly didn’t want to leave. Read the review here www.thedoldergrand.com Sri panwa – Phuket Sri panwa is in a class of its own. Effortlessly cool, it is a mix of private residences and pool villas perched at the tip of Cape Panwa in Phuket. Set in lush tropical …

NEWS: I love The Spa at Mandarin Oriental and I’ve just heard on the grapevine that the Spas (around the world) are offering a detoxifying Spring Awakening body treatment for Spring. An uplifting blend of lavender, mandarin and grapefruit are used to improve circulation, assist in relaxation and stimulate creativity. Review: Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

THE SPA The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is a luxury destination in its own right (but works perfectly as a stopover en-route to Australia).  The hotel offers everything you would expect from the Mandarin group and a treatment or two helps adjust your body to a new time zone with ease. The signature spa therapies are all expertly designed to help soothe mind, body and spirit and I found they helped relieve the symptoms of jet lag in an instant. Completely refurbished in August 2011, the Spa boasts six treatment rooms, including two couples suites, a separate manicure-pedicure station, a reflexology space and tea lounge for relaxation. Dark woods and lacquered panels set the mood with warm earthy tones, louvered shutters and subtle lighting; it’s calming, tranquil and absolutely perfect. The only thing missing within the spa complex are water facilities, but the rooftop pool is just outside – and it’s where I retreated to snooze after my treatment. THE BRANDS: Aromatherapy Associates THE TREATMENT: The Mandarin Oriental Signature Spa Therapies Treatment was developed in …
