Review: Britannia Hotel and Spa, Trondheim, Norway

The Britannia Hotel is an iconic hotel in the northern city of Trondheim. It’s a stunning destination hotel with a gorgeous spa. Dating back to 1870 (celebrating 150 years this year), the hotel reopened following a €140 million investment by its owner Odd Reitan. Re-imaged for the 21st century, the hotel still retains its unique sense of history. Contemporary yet elegant, it’s plush and refined, whilst being warm and welcoming. You feel at home in an instant from the warm welcome at reception through to your connection with the staff. The hotel rooms feature the latest technology for light and curtain controls. The design is simple, understated and elegant. Modern art is punctuated through the rooms and the hotel. What’s on the menu? There are six bars and restaurants on site. My top pick is the fine dining Spielsalen, where you can indulge in the 6 or 10 course tasting menu (with paired wines).
