Wash with Joe

Yes, you literally wash with joe – it’s a brand name for a shower gel a coffee and mint shower gel formulated by (so I’m told) one of New York’s most respected designers, Jane Schub. The coffee contained within it acts as as strong deodoriser whilst the triple distilled peppermint oil helps to invigorate the body and mind and is a sharp wake-up call in the morning. It’s an odd one, I’ve never used a dark brown shower gel before. This looks a bit like coffee syrup and smells incredibly minty. There’s a touch of coffee there – but not as much as you would imagine. When I first tried it, I wasn’t convinced, but was happy to give it another go. Now, a week on and I really rather like it. It’s not been banished to the rubbish heap of forgotten grooming products. It’s found a permanent place in the bathroom. You can find it in a number of spots on the internet, but mine came directly from the Grooming Clinic. Never heard of …

Wingman

So, I was sent a full set of Wingman products recently. It’s suprisingly good and keenly priced at £3.49 and available from Tesco (and online). Wingman is a three in one product to shower, shampoo and shave. I was a bit sceptical as 3-in-1 products don’t always live up to the hype and cheap isn’t always cheerful when it comes to men’s grooming. It’s been around since 2009 and delivers a good product at a great price. I like the consistency of the gel. It’s thick enough so that it doesn’t drip all over the shower floor, it holds to the body so you can soap-up and was really rather good for shaving (this did surprise me). It’s a little bit too turbo charged with testosterone, but they are marketing it at a sporty, adventure seeking crowd. However, when it all boils down to it, this product does exactly what it promises. £3.49 www.worldofwingman.com

ManCave

THE STORY: Evoking images of bearded wild cavemen (and perhaps a few gay bears too), ManCave is a range of no nonsense skin and shower products for – you guessed it. Men. Free of parabens, sulphates (SLS and SLES), synthetic dyes and petrochemicals. This range is not tested on animals and has the Cruelty Free International logo to prove it. The ManCave FaceWash and ShowerGel have been given a trial run in The Spa Man’s shower for the past two weeks and gets the thumbs up. I would have swapped the consistency of the two products around though. I think the Shower Gel is a bit thick and takes a little bit of effort to wash with – and the FaceWash is a little bit loose – you end up using more than is needed. Maybe it’s personal preference – but that’s my input. So the FaceWash – nice smell, great extracts and ingredients and perks you up first thing and leaves the skin awake and most importantly clean. It’s citrussy and a bit zingy. …
