Park House Hotel and Spa - the Spa Man

Review: Park House Hotel and Spa, Sussex

Park House Hotel and Spa is a secret hideaway at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. On a quite country lane, the small country house hotel really punches above its weight. It has modern, comfortable rooms, super comfy beds all set in green Sussex countryside with nothing but the sweet sound of birds to break the silence. Rooms are situated in the main building, and there’s a new annexe with additional large rooms that look across the kitchen garden and to the fields beyond. A stone’s throw from the historic market town of Midhurst, (where you might enjoy the polo at Cowdray Park) there are country gardens and historic sights a plenty. But wise people don’t venture beyond the gate. Choose from an array of country walks, lazing by the pool, or you can indulge in some refined English pursuits like lawn bowls, tennis, a round of golf on the six-hole course or croquet (ok that’s more French). The food is worth the drive too. …

Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor

Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor reviewed

Ockenden Manor has launched a new spa menu featuring a range of treatments from Elemental Herbology and it’s a match made in spa heaven. Ockenden Manor is a cosy Elizabethan manor house with exposed wooden beams and low ceilings situated in the picturesque village of Cuckfield, East Sussex. The spa is built inside a 19th century walled garden and the modern design of the building is a complete contrast to the main hotel building. And as a stand-alone spa it’s is one of the South East’s most impressive. It’s a true countryside setting which benefits from nine acres of parklands and gardens plus all the mod cons you would expect from a contemporary spa. I visited in November 2016 to experience the new partnership with Elemental Herbology. The team at Elemental Herbology has developed a brand new treatment menu, connecting guests with the five elements through a series of bespoke treatments which feature its award-winning products and unique rituals. Elemental Herbology at Ockenden Manor The crowing glory on the spa menu is the bespoke new …

Review: Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa, Sussex

THE SPREAD EAGLE HOTEL & SPA: Set in the heart of the historic Sussex market town of Midhurst, the Spread Eagle Hotel is one of the oldest coaching inns still in existence in the UK, dating back to 1430. The Spread Eagle is proper “olde worlde”, charming and cosy, it is exactly what you would expect from a traditional old inn. Quirky, a bit crooked in places, which adds to the charm it’s built with low ceilings, exposed beams, in Tudor style – it is old England at its very best. It has a great little spa – arguably the best spa in Sussex. For all of its history it doesn’t lack creature comforts and modern spaces. The terrace area between the hotel and spa is perfect to enjoy tea or a snack. The Wifi was easy to log onto, a little slow to download really big files, but fine for general, browsing. And the staff were all welcoming and friendly creating a relaxed informal feel, ensuring I felt right at home. The rooms are very …
