Rites for Life - Anne Lewis

I experienced an energy session with Anne Lewis, facilitator of Rites for Life

When I was in Sydney earlier this year I was introduced to Anne Lewis, facilitator of Rites for Life. Anne is an unassuming woman with a gentle manner and calming presence. Her one-to-one sessions are renowned amongst those in the know and definitely something to seek out for those in need of balance and rejuvenation. Sessions combine energy work that focuses on the chakras and meridian lines. But each session is totally unique and I guess they would be different each time too, depending on your needs, state of mind and current physical, mental and spiritual situation. At the time, I had been travelling quite a bit, was a touch jet lagged and felt rather tired. My session included some vibrational energy work which focussed on the stomach, where I hold stress. She instantly identified this weak spot for me and spent much of her time releasing the energy flow in this area and spent some time focussing on the liver too. I felt an incredible release and an expansion of the whole torso. Combing some conversation and discussion with …

The first International Day of Yoga: 21st June

Today, 21 June, is the first International Day of Yoga and it’s really gaining some momentum. It’s impressive that The United Nations General Assembly declared 21 June the International Day of Yoga in December 2014, when a record 175 member states endorsed the resolution. The resolution notes “the importance of individuals and populations making healthier choices and following lifestyle patterns that foster good health.” Around the world people are planning yoga events throught the day which also coincides with the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. India’s Prime Minister Narenda Modi led thousands of people in a mass yga session in the capital, Delhi who did stretches, bends and breathing exercises with around 35,000 school children, bureaucrats and soldiers.Millions of people across India and around the world are participating too. At the UN, simple yoga poses will be demonstrated at the Visitors Plaza Entrance, while in Times Square, New York – which has had a yoga event timed with the solstice for the past 13 years. There’s even going to be yoga in the sky …

Full moon yoga in Thailand

Renowned for it’s full moon parties, Thailand offers much more to the world traveller than a blinding rave on a beach in Koh Phan gan. Actually, having experienced the extremes either side of the full moon party, I would head in the opposite direction – as fast as you can. Picking up on the full moon theme, luxury villa spa destination, Sri panwa on Phuket is giving guests the chance to experience ‘full moon yoga’ from May 2014. Sri panwa is offering a tranquil alternative to the all-night partying normally associated with Thailand’s full moon. A series of exclusive and privately taught yoga classes will run on Sri panwa’s special floating yoga deck under the full moon each month, with spectacular views of the Andaman Ocean. Set high atop Cape Panwa, commanding breathtaking views of the South-Eastern tip of Phuket, Sri panwa offers outstanding facilities and the utmost luxury and service.   The resort sits 40-60 metres above sea level eastern and western ridges and at the very tip of the cape, covering the peninsula in …
