The Scarlet in Cornwall is renowned for its fabulous green credentials. Modern design touches and sustainability are evident throughout the hotel and spa. But what captured my attention is the clifftop outdoor swimming pool filtered by reeds and the clifftop hot tubs that look out across the ocean. I have not been to The Scarlet as yet, but friends who have give it glowing reviews.
Rudding Park has one of the most impressive landscaped spa gardens in the UK. Complete with outdoor hot tub and sauna cabin, the infinity pool looks out across the woods – and there’s places to sit and lounge in the sunshine. It’s hard to beat on a sunny day. It does get busy, so bag a sun lounger early.

Thermae Bath Spa
Famous the world over, Thermae Bath Spa was re-opened in 2006 and is Britain’s only natural thermal spa. It combines both historic and contemporary spa facilities. The roof top pool has a view that looks across Bath. In the late evening sun – it’s hard to beat.
Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa
The Health Spa, which boasts Temple Spa products is all part of the Bailiffscourt experience which has both indoor and outdoor heated pools, indoor Spa pool, outdoor Californian hot tub, steam room, sauna and gymnasium and a great spa menu. A manor house built in the 1930’s and looks stunning. A perfect setting by the coast.
St Brides Spa Hotel
Perched on top of a cliff overlooking Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire, the infinity pool is something to savour. I visited one January a few years back and took a dip in the pool (it was heated) – the views across the sea and beach below are spectacular. Imagine blue skies, relaxing spa treatments and a soothing dip in the pool.
