Champneys has expanded south, renovating the hotel at Eastwell Manor to offer its unique blend of spa and health resort to a new audience. Ye Olde Bell in Nottinghamshire combines modern build in the spa with old world charm in the 17th century coachouse hotel. Whilst in Berkshire the famous Cliveden House has redeveloped its spa with impressive results. Then further North in Yorkshire, Rudding Park has opened to great fanfare with a roof top spa and a huge range of thermal and hydrotherapy options to satisfy the most jaded spa-goer. And then there’s Center Parcs which has refurbished it’s original spa Aqua Sana Spa at Sherwood Forest. Embracing the concept of Forest bathing, I was one of the first people to visit and I can tell you, it’s pretty impressive. So if you are looking for a relaxing spa break, a wellness holiday or some time out, these are some of the most up to date spa hotels around. This is The Spa Man’s round-up of the hot new spa openings across the UK in 2017.
Champneys Spa at Eastwell Manor, Kent
Following a six-month, multi-million pound renovation, Champneys Spa at Eastwell Manor historic estate is set to become one of the go-to spa hotels in the south.
Less than an hour from London by train, Eastwell Manor will bring the unique Champneys experience to a new customer base in southern England. Typical of Champneys resorts, the spa features a vast treatment menu as well as offering access to the pool, gym and thermal areas. Stylish lounge beds line the new-look indoor pool area and the relaxation room provides guests with a unique panoramic view across the Kentish Eastwell Estate. Situated within beautiful landscaped gardens and surrounded by vast parkland, the hotel includes 62 bedrooms and suites, two restaurants and of course, the spa.
Ye Olde Bell Hotel, Nottinghamshire
Ye Olde Bell is a faithfully restored 17th century hotel embracing every element that makes the building unique. Expect oak panelling, leaded windows and period antiques which are enhanced by sparkling chandeliers, opulent fabrics and open fires. The spa is a multi-million pound development which boasts an impressive indoor to outdoor vitality pool, a unique ‘Snowstorm’ experience plus Sabbia Med Sunlight Therapy. It includes lots of thermal experiences and six treatment rooms with a unique treatment menu created by spa experts, Germaine de Capuccini. There’s a couple of good men’s treatments including: C+ Energy Facial for Men which is a deeply hydrating facial for dehydrated skin. I’m looking forward to visiting later this year to check out the spa which was designed by my good friends at Spa Vision.

Aqua Sana at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest
This place has a sauna built on stilts. Need I say more? This truly is one of the hot new spa openings. Center Parcs has embraced the natural environment with its new Aqua Sana Spa in the Sherwood Forest. The £3 million project takes forest bathing to a whole new level with a new thermal suite and stunning Treetop Sauna. It’s enormous and I loved the sauna with a view out to the forest. With 26 different experiences across two floors in six distinct themed zones, the layout is intended to guide guests through invigorating and awakening journeys which seamlessly connect to soothing, calming and meditative spaces. It’s an impressive space, expertly designed by the team (who are also mates of mine) at Sparcstudio.
Rudding Park, Yorkshire
Rudding Park is one of the most exciting spa launches this year. A privately owned luxury hotel, Rudding Park has 90 bedrooms, a spa, two restaurants and a kitchen garden, private cinema, two golf courses and conference and events space. Set in 300 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, Rudding Park is renowned for being one of the most beautiful Harrogate hotels. And the spa here is huge! The new wellness journey now on offer at Rudding Park Spa, includes the UK’s first Roof Top Spa and Garden complete with Hydrotherapy Infinity Pool and Panoramic Sauna to the spa’s unique Mind and Sense Zones. Sauna infusions created with herbs from the kitchen garden, natural waters drawn from the grounds of Rudding Park and treatments inspired by nature reflect this concept throughout.

Cliveden Spa at Cliveden House, Berkshire
The Cliveden Spa marks the completion of a remarkable multi-million pound restoration of Cliveden House in Berkshire, which has seen the total transformation of this iconic luxury country house hotel.
The centrepiece of the spa is the ‘listed’ outdoor swimming pool, beside which the now infamous Christine Keeler first met John Profumo. However, the spa itself is the epitome of modern luxury, from the cutting edge gym, complete with the latest Technogym equipment, free weights and stretch area, to the indoor heated pool, infrared sauna, aromatherapy steam room, indoor Jacuzzi, outdoor hot tubs, seven treatment rooms, a manicure, pedicure and hair dressing studio.
The Cliveden Spa also provides a new spa restaurant and lounge with views over the garden. you will find Sarah Chapman Facials and OSKIA on the treatment menu.
